ELECTRIC ZOO 2012 DAY 2: Above & Beyond - Sun & Moon

Year 2 of Electric Zoo for me, and this time around was a drastically different experience. What was once a scene that only drew a select type of person has blown up into an absolutely massive spectacle. I even spotted a few kids with braces...parents in tow.

Anyway, some heavy, dirty NYC heat couldn't keep the Zoo creatures from coming out to roam. I managed to catch some great sets during the day from some big name artists including Benny Benassi, Axwell, Wolfgang Gartner and Steve Aoki (who always absolutely SLAYS the crowd). But the big surprise for me came from veteran trance act Above & Beyond, for which I really had no expectations. I wandered over to the main stage after an Aoki champagne shower, and to my surprise was able to walk all the way up--through a supposed crowd of 50,000 strong--to the front gate. What ensued was a good half an hour of mind bending sound. I'm sure there are some haters out there because they chose to close out their headlining slot with some slow, melodic beats, but to me it sounded like real music.

Below is Above & Beyond's track "Sun & Moon," along with a slew of remixes, that killed the audience towards the end of the set. Also including Bingo Players' set from early in the afternoon because that was a fucking good time.
