ELECTRIC ZOO - DAY 3 REVIEW: Dash Berlin, Porter Robinson, Dixon, Tiesto & Diplo
On Sunday, I made my way to Electic Zoo to check out the 4th installment of the festival over on Randalls Island. I had my eyes set on Dash, Porter, Dixon, Tiesto, Diplo and Skrillex. Check my recap after the Jump.
Dash Berlin got my day going on the MainStage and kept the crowd energized with his classic DashUps like DJ Ease My Apollo Road, Till the Sky Falls Down ( 4AM Mix), This Is New York vs. Ordinary People and Zombie Promises.
Next up was an act I had been wanting to see for quite some time, Porter Robinson. He moved from his own songs like Language and Seconds to Deadmau5 classics like The Veldt and Strobe. He threw down Diplo trap music and had the crowd off the ground with tracks like Quaser Hard Rock Sofa. His ability to move genres and keep the crowd constantly engaged impressed me and has me dying to see another show. Check out the YouTube below for 30 minutes of amazing music.
After Porter, I made my way to the Sunday School Tent to catch the end of a DJ Set by Apparat and some amazing music from Dixon (a name to keep an eye on in the coming years). Sunday School was a great change of pace with room to move and new music that impressed. Next up was the big name of the day, Tiesto. While Tiesto certainly put on a show and threw down brand new tracks like AN21 & Max Vangeli's - "Bombs Over Capitals" & Deniz Koyu feat. Wynter Gordon - "Follow You", he just didn't blow me away. Maybe its just me but I always pray he throws on Traffic or Adiago For Strings...
Next on the night was another favorite and that was Diplo. I knew Diplo threw down with links to Philly and rap roots but I was not ready for this set. Inside the Riverside tent with the 3D glasses on, the lightshow and music had everyone on their feet, Diplo took it to another level taking his shoes and shirt off 15 minutes into a set. He came to party and did not miss a beat. He threw down rap remix after rap remix with all time favorite "Ni**as in Paris," "Look at me Now," "Mercy" and a few more. I could keep writing or you could just start listening.
Skrillex rapped up the Festival in fashion but with a shirt soaked in sweat after the Diplo set, my Sunday eZoo experience had been a success.
